{Three Sessions, Two Cultures, One Connection}
Part II – The Rhythm (Philippine Folk Dance: Pandanggo sa Ilaw)
The transition from the quiet discipline of Japanese Shodo to the rhythmic radiance of the Philippine “Pandanggo sa Ilaw” marked a profound shift in the Cross-Cultural Exchange Project. While the first session celebrated the "art of the pen" through calligraphy, the second, led by Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC) on February 6, celebrated the "art of the flame." This traditional "Dance of Light" requires dancers to balance oil lamps with poise and precision—a vibrant testament to the festive spirit of Filipino culture.
The exchange brought together Development Communication students from CSPC and Nursing students from IMC, moving quickly from historical context to physical immersion. After a masterful demonstration by the CSPC pairs, the IMC participants stepped onto the floor to mimic the intricate footwork and balancing acts. This hands-on tutorial bridged the gap between observer and participant, proving that the best way to honor a culture is to embody its movements.
As the music peaked, the atmosphere shifted from a lesson to a celebration. Seeing students from two different nations and disciplines synchronize into a single beat was a powerful reminder of the project’s core mission. Whether through the silent stroke of a brush or the flickering glow of a balanced lamp, these sessions proved that different traditions can harmonize into one pulse. By learning to move to each other's rhythms, the participants transformed a cultural gap into a shared masterpiece of human connection.
The resulting atmosphere was as touching as it was festive. In that moment, the geographical and cultural distances between the two nations vanished. Seeing students from different backgrounds and fields of study—Communication and Nursing—move in perfect harmony to a single beat offered a powerful visual metaphor for the project. It was a testament to the fact that while our traditions may differ, the language of rhythm and the shared effort of learning can unite any two cultures into one cohesive melody.

日本の書道が持つ静かな規律から、フィリピンの「パンダンゴ・サ・イラウ（Pandanggo sa Ilaw）」が放つ躍動的な輝きへ――。この移行は、文化交流プロジェクトにおける深遠な転換点となりました。第一回セッションが書道を通じた「筆の芸術」を称えるものだったのに対し、2月6日にカマリネス・スール・ポリテクニック大学（CSPC）が主導した第二回セッションは、「炎の芸術」を祝う場となりました。この伝統的な「光の舞」は、踊り手が頭や手にオイルランプを乗せ、均衡を保ちながら優雅に舞うことを求められます。それはまさに、フィリピン文化が持つ快活な精神を象徴する鮮やかな証といえるでしょう。
この交流では、CSPCの「開発コミュニケーション学科」の学生と、アイエムシー（IMC）の「看護学科」の学生が集い、歴史的背景の解説から実技の体験へと速やかに移行しました。CSPCのペアによる見事なお手本の後、IMCの参加者たちも複雑な足さばきとバランスの動きを模倣しました。この体験型チュートリアルは、単なる「観察者」と「参加者」の隔たりを埋め、ある文化に敬意を払う最善の方法はその動きを自ら体現することである、という事実を証明しました。
音楽が最高潮に達すると、会場の雰囲気は「学習の場」から「祝祭」へと一変しました。異なる国籍、そして異なる学問分野の学生たちが一つの鼓動に同期していく姿は、このプロジェクトの核心的な使命を強く思い起こさせるものでした。静かな筆致であれ、揺らめくランプの光であれ、これらのセッションは、異なる伝統が一つのパルス（脈動）へと調和できることを示しました。互いのリズムに合わせて踊ることを学ぶことで、参加者たちは文化の壁を越え、人間味あふれる絆という一つの傑作を作り上げたのです。
その場に流れた空気は、お祭りのような賑やかさと同時に、胸を打つ感動に満ちていました。その瞬間、二国間の地理的・文化的な距離は消え去りました。背景も専攻も異なる学生たちが完璧なハーモニーの中で踊る姿は、プロジェクトの力強いメタファー（比喩）となりました。それは、たとえ伝統が異なっても、リズムという言語と学び合う姿勢があれば、いかなる文化も一つのまとまった旋律として融合できるという証となりました。
